The main objectives of the NORMO study are to monitor trends over time and status in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden among children 7–12 y and adults 18-65 y in:
Diet quality and frequency of food consumption
Physical activity and sedentary behaviour
Overweight and obesity prevalence.
Among adults the use of alcohol, tobacco, snuff, nicotine pouches and e-cigarettes are also measured to enable monitoring trends for nicotine use over time from 2014 to 2024. In the current results from 2024, measures of sustainable diet and activity have been included to provide knowledge to the Vision 2030 of the Nordic Council of Ministers to become the most sustainable and integrated region in the world in 2030. The study identifies similarities and differences in health and sustainable behaviours in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden and compares intake of selected foods, physical activity, alcohol consumption and use of tobacco and nicotine products between countries to recommendations on diet and physical activity. A further objective is to examine social inequality in diet, physical activity and overweight.
