Definitions

Energy Smart appliances – an appliance that is able to automatically respond to external stimuli, e.g., price information, direct control signals, and/or local measurements (mainly voltage and frequency)
Flexibility – response to an external stimulus in form of a change of an appliance’s electricity consumption pattern
Aggregator – intermediary bundling small, distributed energy resources (DERs)
