Foreword

In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, digitalisation stands as a main driver of growth and scalability. Recognizing its potential, businesses and national governments alike are formulating ambitious digitalisation strategies aimed at harnessing the potential of technology to foster innovation and efficiency.
When these strategies are aligned across businesses and borders, they foster initiatives that can streamline business administration and unlock significant savings in time and resources. This is particularly true in the realm of cross-border trade, where complex administrative processes can hinder progress.
The Nordic Smart Government & Business Program (NSG&B), implemented by the tax and business registry authorities of Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark from 2021 to 2024, is a testament to create value for small and medium-sized enterprises by making real time business data accessible and usable for innovation and growth across the region, in an automatic, consent based and secure manner.
Central to our efforts the last four years is the pursuit of digital interoperability ensuring that various digital systems can work seamlessly together across different processes, trading partners, and regulatory frameworks.
By reflecting on our achievements against the benchmarks set in our Implementation Plan of 2021 we deliver this report to provide a comprehensive overview of the tangible deliverables and the extent to which we have met our initial expectations.
NSG&B can conclude that we have achieved significant milestones and that every success is a result of development and cooperation between all stakeholders in the market.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Nordic Innovation for its essential financial and strategic support, as well as to all stakeholders whose invaluable insights, testing, and feedback have enriched the program. Your contributions form the foundation of our ongoing commitment to create a simpler, more efficient, and safer business environment for the 2 million small and medium-sized enterprises across the Nordic region.
Signed by the Steering Group of The Nordic Smart Government and Business Programme.
